as in sticks At thsi time of year, there's a lot to cut back in the garden - anything at all that looks burnable, gets piled up for the leaves to fall off, then chopped/cut for the fire. I see trailer after trailer down the tip being shoved over the wall, full of prunings that are good burnable material. OK, they go into the compost piles, but I'd love to get my hands and saw on a lot of them for the wood pile here. I'm waiting for some of my trees to grow a bit before I chop them, but should be coppicing the first of my own hazel this winter. I'm excited about that.  |
