since older child has been at college, and travelling by bus, we have had many more colds, coughs and sneezes than we were prey to before, being home education etc etc. I've stocked up on echinacea and Vitamin C to help in the short term, but have been looking into lionger term, natural boosts that I can grow/provide/make myself. I've done a Google - seems lemons, cider/honey vinegar, fresh air, good sleep, lots of fruit and vegetables, cold air, exercise. All the usual suspects. So, I'm going to address that pronto. When TSHTF, I don;t want to be the one crying and sneezing into my hankie in the corner
Anyone else?

My mum told me to watch countryfile last week because a herbalist made a elderberry syrup for coughs.
You can watch for a couple more days online here

But I tracked down the Herbalists website and it's very interesting and has the receipe here

Wonder if there are any elderberries still about. I will definately try and have an elderberry tree in the next garden we have |

I make elder rob, which is good as it's stuffed full of vitamin C, keeps for ages, and just costs the price of the sugar. If no fresh ones, use dreid ones - health food shop should have some, or maybe online somwhere.
